Motorcycle Survival Training Course

Saturday, April 21, 2012

This course is designed to teach experienced riders how to survive riding on our roadways. The course is taught by seasoned, police motorcycle officers that know what it takes to stay safe on a motorcycle!

Motorcycles are inexpensive to operate, fun to ride and easy to park. Unfortunately, many riders never learn the critical skills needed to ride safely. Motorcycling requires skill, concentration and reasonable precautions. Although it is possible to ride a motorcycle on your own, the trial and error method is a tough teacher of motorcycle skills.

This course is designed to teach experienced riders how to survive riding on our roadways. The course is taught by seasoned, police motorcycle officers that know what it takes to stay safe on a motorcycle!

By attending this course you will learn:

  • Effective turning
  • Obstacle avoidance
  • Braking maneuvers
  • Clutch control techniques
  • Traffic strategies
  • Proper protective equipment
  • Motorcycle maintenance

This Course is offered FREE to the Public!

The Broken Arrow Police Department has been awarded a grant from the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office to provide this course free to the public. Participants will learn a number of skills attending this six hour class while riding their own motorcycles. Anybody with motorcycle riding experience can attend this course. Regardless of your experience, you WILL learn new techniques that you can take to the streets to survive the ride!

This is what other experienced riders have said after attending this course:

“The motorcycle course was fantastic! I would definitely recommend it to others and would attend another myself. It is very good practical training for new and seasoned riders”

“I was very impressed with the course content, instructor skill level and just how much fun it was. Having ridden motorcycles for over 33 years, I felt like it was a very productive day. Any information that a rider can learn that could potentially save his or her life is useful knowledge. I would highly recommend the course to any and all riders regardless of their skill level or length of time they have ridden. Keep putting out the great information to the riding public.”

“I have been around and riding motorcycles for over twenty-five years. I learned so much from this course and would recommend anyone that has a motorcycle to take this course. This was a great way for the Police Department to interact and work with citizens from Broken Arrow and the surrounding communities.”

“I have attended several motorcycle safety classes over the years and this was one of the best. I look forward to seeing you offer more of these in the future. Excellent course and great job!!!”

“I had the opportunity, along with 25 other motorcycle enthusiasts, to attend training sponsored by the Broken Arrow Police Department. The training was nothing short of outstanding. Officers represented the Police Department in the finest fashion. Throughout my career I took part in countless hours of training, but never enjoyed any as much as I did this class. Lives will be saved as a result of their efforts.”
